Grow Your Law Practice: Be a Media Notable Quotable

Lawyers who get “quoted” by credible media outlets are helping not only the journalists and their audiences understand the legal issue at hand, but they are also helping their own marketing and business development efforts.

There are many ways that being quoted as an expert in print, online, broadcast or radio stories boosts a lawyer’s visibility and reputation.

Nix Strategic Communications Principal Denise Nix and Zumado PR Managing Partner Brenda McGann teamed up to write about why and how a lawyer should be quoted in the media as part of an effective marketing strategy. Their article, How to Become a Quotable Lawyer [pdf], was published April 15, 2024, by the American Bar Association’s Law Practice Today (subscription required).

The article discusses how one media opportunity leads to other opportunities, both in terms of additional interviews and business development. It also offers practical advice on how to launch a strategy to get quoted on the topics you want to speak about to the audience you’re trying to reach.

While Denise and Brenda provide lots of valuable advice to get started, there is one super important tip that can make or break your efforts at being successfully interviewed and quoted by journalists. (Hints: it rhymes with “bee schmeponsive.”)
